Inaugural OPHS Undergraduate Summit

The OPHS Undergraduate Summit was held at the Sinclair Library Heritage Room on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Twenty-five students presented posters of their Applied Learning Experience (APLE) project proposals as part of their undergraduate capstone experience. Of the 25 students who presented, 5 are in the UH Manoa Honors program and 2 are CHL Scholars. This was the first poster created, and first public presentation, for all the students and they were excited about this inaugural experience. Project topics ranged from preventing diabetes in China to addressing substance abuse in rural Oahu. Though many APLE will be conducted on Oahu, 6 will be conducted abroad in South Korea, American Samoa, Kosrae (Federated States of Micronesia), and Nanchang, China. For more information regarding the Applied Learning Experience, please contact Dr. Denise Nelson-Hurwitz.
