The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Office of Public Health Studies (OPHS) proudly welcomes Dr. Uday “AJ” Patil to its distinguished faculty.
Dr. Patil joins OPHS as the newest Instructional Faculty member with a focus on enhancing undergraduate education in public health. After recently earning his PhD in Public Health from UH Mānoa’s Office of Public Health Studies, alongside two master’s degrees in Psychology and Library and Information Science, Dr. Patil’s dissertation focused on strategies to enhance students’ written communication skills. His research and professional expertise are rooted in advancing public health education, particularly in health writing pedagogy and the integration of innovative educational technologies.
Dr. Patil’s work aligns perfectly with UH Mānoa’s commitments to providing high-quality instruction and fostering innovative scholarship. His dedication to improving undergraduate public health education supports OPHS’s goal of offering exceptional public health training and education that prepares students for diverse public health careers.

In his inaugural semester, Dr. Patil will teach PH 203: Introduction to Global Health, PH 480: Application of Public Health Principles in Research & Practice, and assist with PH 489: Public Health Undergraduate Capstone Seminar.
