Abstract: How do we understand the return of the Marcoses to power? Were we all just too naive or were we hoodwinked by the ruling elite? What happened to the so-called “Spirit of EDSA” that was supposed to prevent such a restoration? This talk suggests several possible explanations behind these dramatic changes in Philippine politics.
