NSF Grant: Diaspora Languages Project of Hawaii (DLPHI)

UHM Linguistics is thrilled to announce the launch of a new project to document and support Micronesian languages through training of UH undergraduate and graduate students and capacity building within members of the Micronesian diaspora community in Hawai’i. 

Supported by NSF grant BCS-2421485, the Diaspora Languages Project of Hawaii (DLPHI), aims to:

  • Host project-based training workshops aimed to assist Micronesian diaspora community members in documentation and materials development
  • Build multipurpose corpora of Micronesian languages
  • Conduct targeted research including but not limited to the phonetics, phonology, morphosyntax, and typology of Micronesian languages.
