Minor in Linguistics

The Linguistics minor is offered for students who wish to further their knowledge of linguistics as a complement to their major studies.

The requirements include LING 320: General Linguistics, which is offered both in fall and spring semesters, plus 12 additional credits from any 300- or 400-level course in Linguistics, for a total of 15 credits (a minimum of 12 credits must be taken at UH Mānoa).

All courses for the minor must be taken for a letter grade, and each must be passed with a minimum grade of “C” or better.

Courses for the minor cannot be used to fulfill requirements for the student’s major. Students are encouraged, but not required, to take one of our 100-level courses before beginning the minor.
