Community Linguist Award

Benny Delpada, close collaborator of UHM alumnus Andel Blake (PhD 2024), has just received the Linguistic Society of America Community Linguist Award. Benny is a linguist who has contributed substantially to the documentation and maintenance of his own Abui language (abui1241), as well as other languages of Southeastern Indonesia. Blake nominated Benny for this award following the completion of his UHM dissertation, in recognition of the enormous contribution Benny has made to Blake’s own work and to Abui language research more broadly.
