Nani I Ka Hala Exhibit Bishop Museum
On March 28th, Bishop Museum unveiled the original exhibition Nani I Ka Hala: Weaving Hawaiʻi. The exhibit runs through July 26th and addresses the need to collect, share, and perpetuate this tradition as part of Hawaiʻi’s heritage and vibrant living culture. The exhibit features the third volume of the Hawaiʻinuiākea series, ʻIke Ulana Lau Hala, as well as historic items from the museum’s collection, hands-on activity stations, and cutting-edge digital interactive displays. The creative use of sound and light envelopes visitors and gives the sense of walking through a hala grove and hearing master weavers converse back and forth.
