Internship Benefits

Stipend: $32,000/year

Insurance: Interns are provided a $3,000 allowance for the purchasing of medical insurance. They may seek private insurance, or enroll in the UHM student plan covered for visiting scholars (post-docs). You can find the request form at http://www.hawaii.edu/shs/student_insurance/uh_student_plan.php, and fill out the Request for Non-Student Eligibility for University Health Insurance Form.  Insurance may cover family members and legally married partners. Coverage including domestic partners is not available.

Time off
Vacation/Personal Leave: up to 10 days/year
Sick Leave: up to 10 days/year
Professional Development: up to 5 days/year
Holidays: There are 13 recognized state and federal holidays per year.
Other: in the event of medical conditions and/or family needs that require extended leave, we allow reasonable unpaid leave to interns in excess of personal time off and sick leave

Other University Benefits: Library privileges, access to Recreational Services (fees required), and eligibility for a parking pass (fees required).
