All graduates of the Electrical Engineering Program are expected to have:

1.     Knowledge of probability and statistics, including examples relevant to Electrical Engineering (program criteria). Knowledge of mathematics through differential and integral calculus, basic sciences, and engineering sciences necessary to analyze and design complex devices and systems containing hardware and software. Knowledge of advanced mathematics, such as differential equations, linear algebra, complex variables, and discrete mathematics (program criteria).

2.     Demonstrated an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to interpret data.

3.     Demonstrated an ability to design a system or component that meets desired
needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social,
political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
 

4.     Demonstrated an ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team.

5.     Demonstrated an ability to identify, formulate and solve electrical engineering problems.

6.     Understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.

7.     Demonstrated an ability to communicate effectively (written and oral).

8.     Demonstrated an understanding of the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.

9.     Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in life-long learning.

Industrial Advisory Board

The Department has an Industrial Advisory Board whose members are practicing engineers, and many are alumni. The Board meets quarterly and provides a report of their evaluation of the undergraduate program for electrical engineering students. At the fall meeting they make an assessment of SLOs 1-11.

Student Advisory Board

The Department has a Student Advisory Board whose members are current students in the undergraduate program. The Board meets several times per year and provides a report of their evaluation of the undergraduate program for electrical engineering students.  This includes a survey of all electrical engineering students.

Surveys were given to the Department’s IAB members at their fall meeting in Oct. 2012.

Nine IAB members submitted surveys to the Department at their fall meeting in Oct. 2012.

For courses, only the EE 324 instructor in Fall 2012 completed an assessment. The others are still in the process of being collected/analyzed.

Collecting assessments from faculty were unsually low during AY 2012-13. Faculty committee is not completely sure what the next step is with the assessments we do have.
