The assessment goal is that all graduating MPH students achieve the 18 stated MPH SLOs or competencies.

6) State the type(s) of evidence gathered to answer the assessment question and/or meet the assessment goals that were given in Question #5.

MPH students are required to complete the 6 core courses and 7 specialization courses with a passing grade of an “A”, “B”, or “C”.  The SLOs competencies are linked to each required course in the MPH degree program.  The specific selected competencies are listed in each syllabus that show which competencies were obtained upon completion.  The teaching faculty members select the appropriate competencies and note them in their syllabi that are obtained by satisfactory completion of their course.

7) State how many persons submitted evidence that was evaluated. If applicable, please include the sampling technique used.

The number persons included the all faculty members (18) submitting the MPH students’ grades for those SLOs courses, the students (31 graduating MPH students) with submitting their’ portfolio, and the instructor (1) for PH 789: Integrative Seminar checks that the students completed all the parts of the assessment process.

Other: The methods of evidence for MPH include the following four (4) items: 1) MPH portfolio collected in final PH 789 Integrative Seminar course, 2) passing grade with “A” “B” or “C” in each course linked to competencies, 3) faculty's syllabi with selected linked competencies, and/or 4) competency system re-designed to link more closely with MPH curriculum (map).

Summarize the actual results.

Summary of the results produced 100% of graduating MPH students (31) completed all four pieces of evidence for December 2010 and May 2011 graduation.

11) State how the program used the results or plans to use the results. Please be specific.

The results were shared with the Department’s Curriculum Committee that helped refine the process each year.

12) Beyond the results, were there additional conclusions or discoveries?
This can include insights about assessment procedures, teaching and learning, program aspects and so on.

The process has become a standardize assessment process of PH 789: Integrative Seminar addressing all three different specializations with a specific format.
