TRIO Mānoa provides one-on-one academic advising, as well as personal and career information. The students at TRIO Mānoa will meet with experienced advisors at least 1 time per semester.

The office is located in room 114 Krauss Hall, across the street from Richardson Law School library. Appointments can be made via STAR Balance.

Leilani Takeuchi Harjati, Director and Academic Advisor

Leilani Takeuchi Harjati is a proud first-generation college graduate and 3x UH Mānoa alum. Prior to joining SSS, Leilani was an academic advisor at the Mānoa Advising Center for Exploratory Students (MAC), coordinator of UH Mānoa’s First Year Programs, and a member of the Healthy Hawaii Initiative Evaluation Team in the Office of Public Health Studies. She believes in the power of peer mentoring and is a founding member of the Mānoa Peer Advisors Program and the Financial Literacy Peer Educator Program.

Kainani Wills, Academic Advisor

Kainani Wills is a proud graduate of both Honolulu CC TRIO and TRIO Mānoa. With firsthand experience as a FirstGen college student, Kainani is eager to share her expertise in financial aid and scholarships. Her passion lies in guiding students towards academic and career success, all while emphasizing the importance of self-care and balance. Kainani is dedicated to fostering a supportive community and providing a safe space for students to be themselves.

Jahanavi Priya, Academic Advisor

Jahanavi Priya is a first generation college student, delighted to call herself an UH Mānoa alumni, having earned her bachelor's and master's degrees here. During her undergraduate journey she found a second family within TRIO Mānoa. As a former student and now advisor at TRIO, Jahanavi knows first hand the value in helping students navigate their academic journey. She is passionate about helping students discover college and career paths that truly speak to their passions, dreams, and happiness.
