Portuguese Language
The Department of Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas offers first and second year courses in Portuguese, as well as a culture and history course called Studies in Culture: Portugal and Brazil (LAIS 380).
The teaching of Portuguese, a heritage language in Hawai‘i, helps us to connect to the Brazilian and Portuguese communities in the islands. The recently created Knowlton-Coito Portuguese Scholarship supports students at any UH campus interested in learning Portuguese language and culture.
