Stacy Nojima Gutierrez

Stacy Nojima Gutierrez received her BA in American Multicultural Studies and English from Sonoma State University. She then obtained her MA and PhD in American Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, along with graduate certificates in Women’s Studies and International Cultural Studies. Her dissertation is titled “Mixed Race Capital: Cultural Producers and Asian American Mixed Race Identity from the Late Nineteenth to Early Twentieth Century.” She has been able to utilize the theories and information learned in in American Studies and operationalize it in her work in the field of higher education. She currently works as Director of Student Equity Experience at West Valley College. In her role, she oversees equity programs including Puente, Umoja, First Year Experience, TRiO, and Career Services.
