14 Jul Planting Pilina Amidst a Pandemic

On July 16 and July 23, the Huakaʻi Education Initiative will facilitate two conversations with ʻāina-based education leaders, who will share stories about their work and offer strategies for facing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both events, hosted by Malia Nobrega-Olivera and Lei Anuenue, are free and open to the public.

About the Huakaʻi Education Initiative:The Huakaʻi Education Initiative (HEI) of the American Studies Department is funded by the UHM Strategic Investment Competition. During the 2020-2021 school year, the Huakaʻi Education Initiative will reorganize a large, undergraduate lecture class around studentsʻ relationships to ʻāīna and build relationships with ʻāina-based educational sites across Oʻahu. At the conclusion of the school year, HEI will offer learned insights to other undergraduate faculty members across the University of Hawaiʻi, interested in providing ʻāina-based educational opportunities to their students as well as in developing reciprocal relationships with ʻāina and ʻāīna organizations.
