Book Talk with AMST Alums and Mari Yoshihara

Two alums of our PhD program, Nakatani Sanae and Yohei Sekiguchi, and Mari Yoshihara will be doing a talk show style session on the recently published Unpredictable Agents: The Making of Japan’s Americanists during the Cold War and Beyond on March 9 at 12pm on zoom. Please join us at the talk (registration link here).

The book is a collection of fascinating and engaging personal essays about Japanese scholars’ encounters with “America” and their journeys to becoming American Studies scholars. Hawai’i, UH, and the American Studies Department play an important part in both Yohei’s and Sanae’s essays. The book is available online through UH library.
