Demystifying the Archives: The Practice of Collecting Artist Papers

Please join us for an upcoming free public lecture announce by Christina Ayson-Plank, an art archivist from the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art, on Sunday, March 30th, 2:00 – 3:30 pm at Windward Community College. Christina is the Asian Pacific American Specialist at the Smithsonian Archives and last year she came to Hawaiʻi to visit with artists, curators and scholars.

Christina was enrolled in the Ph.D. program in American Students before she transferred to the Art History program at UC-Santa Cruz to obtain her PhD. Christina will describe the function of art archives, and more specifically what she is tasked with doing. She is also looking forward to sharing her work and the people she has met.
