Calling for Pacific Island Volunteers

OUR AIMS

  1. The purpose of this survey is to learn from you as a community member about your knowledge and understanding about coranavirus disease (COVID-19) and COVID-19 testing.

  2. We want to learn more about how to get Pacific Islanders tested for COVID-19.

WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO

You will be asked to:

  • Fill out two surveys
  • Invite your friends and family to also participate in this project
  • Receive education and information about COVID-19 prevention and testing
  • Use RDS to recruit participants

THE SURVEY QUESTIONS WILL ASK

  • Basic demographic and personal information
  • Challenges faced during the pandemic, and its impact on your health, employment, household, and livelihood
  • Knowledge, behavior, perceived risk and attitudes towards COVID-19, testing, and vaccine
  • COVID-19 sources of information

Eligibility:

You must be 18 years or older

You self-identify as a Pacific Islander

You will be on Guam for at least 3 months

You have never tested positive for COVID-19

You must not have a bleeding problem or immune deficiency disorder or autoimmune disease

You give verbal and/or written consent

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

  • A group of participants (seeds) will be recruited and will complete the survey.
  • Every 'seed' will then be asked to refer up to 3 family/friends to complete the survey.
  • Each participant will get an incentive for completing the survey, as well as an additional incentive for each recruit of his/hers that completes the survey.
  • All participants will be asked to take the survey, recruit others, and upon completion, WILL be offered the same incentives.
  • This recruitment process will continue until we have recruited 800 Pacific Islander adult in the project.

THE INCENTIVES

Each participant will receive a gift certificate for completion of the following:

Completion of Pre-Survey

$10 gift certificate

Completion of Post-Survey

$10 gift certificate

Recruiting a maximum of three family and/or friends

$5 gift certificate $5 gift certificate $5 gift certificate

TOTAL PER PARTICIPANT

Completion of two surveys (pre and post) + recruitment of three participants

$35 gift certificate

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

Can only enroll once

Must have valid
consent form signed

CONFIDENTIALITY

All personal information and other identification information will be kept confidential.
