The One Health Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Certificate program will be admitting its first cohort of students in Fall 2023. Students planning to pursue this certificate should consider registering for the Introduction to One Health (PH 441) course offered online this summer (7/3/23 – 8/11/23) through UH Manoa Outreach College. PH 441 is taught by Public Health Associate Professor Catherine Pirkle and provides a foundation on One Health, emphasizing the links between ocean and human health, given the deep cultural ties of Hawaii’s peoples to the marine environment.
Students completing PH 441 will be eligible to enroll in the One Health Journal Club (IS 395) in Fall 2023 which will be led by CTAHR Assistant Researcher Michael Melzer. The One Health Journal Club is a one-credit course where students will gain critical reading skills through the presentation and discussion of published literature on One Health-related topics. Both PH 441 and IS 395 are core courses for the One Health certificate program.
The One Health certificate program is continuing to accept applications throughout Summer 2023. Admissions information and an online admissions form are available on the One Health Certificate Admissions page. For more information, contact the One Health program at onehlth@hawaii.edu.
