Brian and Lisa are in the process of observing my 5/6 grade Focus group class for this Sampling Activity with m & m's. They have been here through 2 full, 40 minute classes so far- and have scheduled a third observation for next week! It is a work in progress. The students are having a great time and learning a ton!! We all look forward to the TSI lesson because it is the most fun we have all week long! Other than this TSI course we have a very traditional, serious, focused, textbook only oriented curriculum. I might be blind, but where do I find the Module 4 lesson plan template? I know it must be available somewhere because I see that Andrea and Jeff have already posted their lesson plans. It's not showing up on this "Module 4" page.

I taught this lesson to my 9th grade Marine Science students. We were able to finish it in a day and a half, but I think in the future I would like to make it more of a unit about bacteria and antibiotics because they were very interested in the topic. I have a background in cell and molecular biology, so I have worked with bacterial cell cultures in the past and shared some of this with the students.

I was wondering if anyone changed the probabilities in the activity from 1 in 6 for survival of mutated / death of normal. Did this make it more interesting ?

I just ran this lesson with my students, and my kids LOVED it! Overall, I'm so impressed with the progress my kids have made because of TSI! And, it really showed during this activity! They were asking thoughtful questions, I saw examples of every type of question (clarifying, summarizing, lifting, and extending) from each student, even my struggling learners! They made great connects to real life and applied sampling bias and sampling design to their own lives as well. It was great!

I finally found the pizza but I don't know how to make it larger for printing. I think I'll be OK with the small one if I can't make it big.

Attached is my lesson plan 1 for module 4, which I decided to do my of my own activities and plan it using TSI. The activity I chose is a projected based activity where they are required to make a model of a new marine species that they discovered.
