IKAIKA IMUA!

To Go Forward with Strength!

The Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa is a premier leadership development program designed to train and commission future officers for the United States Army. Our program provides students with a unique opportunity to pursue their college education while developing critical leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills essential for military and civilian careers.

The UH Mānoa Army ROTC program offers a curriculum that balances classroom instruction with hands-on training. Students can enroll in the Basic Course during their freshman and sophomore years, with no commitment to military service, allowing them to explore the possibility of a career in the Army. Those who decide to pursue a military path continue into the Advanced Course, where they receive rigorous leadership training, tactical experience, and preparation for commissioning as Second Lieutenants upon graduation.

Our cadets benefit from Hawaii’s diverse cultural environment and unique training landscape, which includes mountains, forests, and coastal regions. Field training exercises conducted in these terrains provide a challenging and enriching experience that prepares future officers for the complex demands of military service.

Ranger Challenge

The Ranger Challenge is often referred to as the “Varsity Sport” of Army ROTC. It’s a highly competitive, physically and mentally demanding competition designed to test the skills, endurance, and teamwork of Army ROTC cadets. The Ranger Challenge pushes cadets to their limits and fosters leadership, camaraderie, and tactical expertise.

Leadership Development

In addition to developing leadership skills, cadets enjoy opportunities for Army ROTC scholarships, which can cover full tuition and provide stipends for living expenses and books. Cadets also have the chance to attend specialized training schools, such as Airborne and Air Assault, and participate in summer leadership programs like Cadet Summer Training (CST) at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

With a focus on academic achievement, physical fitness, and community involvement, the UH Mānoa Army ROTC program equips students with the tools to succeed both as Army officers and in any professional career they choose to pursue. Whether serving on Active Duty, in the Army Reserves, or the National Guard, our graduates leave with a sense of duty, integrity, and the ability to lead in any environment.

Join us at UH Mānoa ROTC, where leadership is more than a skill—it’s a lifelong commitment to service and excellence.
