If you are interested in the actual academic process about transferring to UH Mānoa, there are several institutional programs to make that process smoother, namely Auto Admit (Auto Admissions) and the Kaʻieʻie Program.
It is important that students start planning their transition to UH Mānoa with an advisor at least 1-2 semesters before they transfer. For UH system transfer students there are a couple different options when applying to UH Mānoa. Auto Admit or Automatic Admission is an initiative that allows UH System community college students to transition directly to UH Mānoa without having to pay the $70 application fee.
Criteria for Automatic Admission
- 2.0 GPA or above
- More than 50 credits total, 100 level and above, earned or in progress
- More than 12 institutional credits, 100 level and above, earned or in progress
- Enrolled in a Associates of Art degree program
- Students who are not already at a 4 year institution
- 93% completion of STAR Grad Requirements
- 96% completion of STAR Core Requirements
**Note: A few Associates of Sciences degrees are also eligible for Automatic Admissions. See the table below for a listing – these are subject to change. Please contact each institution for more information.
Automatic Admission Deadlines
Automatic Admissions offers are made once a semester excluding summer. Students are given 1 month to respond to the offer, if the offer is NOT accepted and the student doesnʻt already transfer to UH Mānoa or West Oahu, only 1 more automatic admission offer will issued. The second auto-admit offer will be generated by STAR one academic year after the first auto-admit offer was sent out. So if you received an automatic admissions offer in the Fall you wonʻt receive the second offer until the following Fall.

The second option for community college students to gain admission into UH Mānoa is the standard transfer application process.
Standard Transfer Application Process
What is the Standard Transfer Application Process?
The standard transfer application process consists of community college students applying directly to UH Mānoa. Through this process UH system community college students must submit the following to the UH Mānoa Admissions Office, a completed UH system application, official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended and the $70 application fee.
There are no criteria for students to be eligible for the Standard Transfer Application Process, except those outlined earlier in the “Am I a Transfer Student” section.
