Sampling for Abundance - What did you call your representative "organisms"?

Calling the index cards, index cards is, well, bland. I wanted to ask what other people called their cards, tickets, popsicle sticks, etc. For example, for mine, the blue tickets were pipipi, the green cards were limu, the blue index cards opihi, and the piles of popsicle sticks were wana.

Ours was very similar. This is one way we made an ocean connection to the activity. I say "ours" because we joined together to make one study site and brought our classes to it.

My class is Earth & Planetary Science, so all mine are types of rocks. I used 2 types of cloth for my planet surface so the darker is maria and the lighter is regolith.

I let my students name the organisms, so they were different for each class, but they generally used the colors and something funny after the name so that they would easily be recognized by everyone. I also had some sea star, clam, and sea snail large bulletin board cutouts that I scattered around, which enabled me to review invertebrate phyla and the students thought they were cute, they asked if they could have them =P.
