Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival

October 24, 2024

On September 16, 2024, the Center for Chinese studies hosted the Mid-Autumn Festival Meet and Greet event, bringing together CCS faculty and students. This event provided a great opportunity for everyone to reconnect at the start of the school year, catching up with old friends and welcoming new ones.

We celebrated the Chinese festival with mooncakes from China and an assortment of Chinese teas accompanied by expert knowledge/anecdotes from CCS faculty Hong JIANG, who has been researching Tea in Taiwan over the past two summers.

The festival, celebrated for centuries, reminds us of the importance of togetherness and shared moments. Though we may be separated by distance, we hope that the bright moon will serve as a reminder of our shared bonds and aspirations. As the poet 苏轼(Su Shi ) once wrote, “但愿人长久,千里共婵娟” (May we live long and share the beauty of the moon, even though we are thousands of miles apart”).
