On September 14, 2024, Center for Chinese Studies co-sponsored the annual China National Day Celebration banquet at Ala Moana Hotel Hibiscus Ballroom, which was organized by 30+ local Chinese Community organizations. This year, featuring the 75th anniversary celebration, more than 300 people attended the event.
During the banquet, in addition to the delicious table dinner, event participants were able to enjoy the lion dance and a short performance from top-notch performers from China, who performed the full show of “Cultural China and Splendid Sichuan”.
CALL Dean Peter Arnade, UH Chief Officer of Global Engagement Brent White, International Partnership Director Xiaoxin (Ivy) Mu, CCS faculty representatives, Wei Zhang, Jing Guo, Le Lin, Charles Booth, Carole Peterson, American Studies Department Chair Elizabeth Colwill, and CCS Director Ming-Bao Yue, Associate Director Ni Zhang attended the banquet.
As a gold sponsor for this event, CCS was recognized during the event and had the opportunities to build stronger connections with Chinese local communities for future outreach programs.
