Dr. Yuanan Lu is a Professor and Director of the Environmental Health Laboratory in the UH Office of Public Health Studies. One of his research interests focuses on employing cutting-edge molecular biology and virology technology for the development of new approaches for enhanced early detection of viral infection and novel preventive and therapeutic strategies to combat pathogenic viruses of human and marine species. He will discuss the recent outbreak and rapid spread of the new coronavirus in Wuhan, the ensuing crisis management response, and the impact of the disease on global health.
