UHM in Taiwan began offering a summer intensive program for the Chinese Language Flagship Program students in 2022 through collaboration with the host institution, National Tsing Hua University. UHM in Taiwan offers a unique learning experience that allows Flagship students to take full advantage of the various cultural and historical sites to achieve the language proficiency goals of The Language Flagship.

The program will be held in two locations; the first 2 weeks will be based in Taipei, and the remaining 6 weeks in Hsinchu. The curriculum was constructed specifically for Flagship students by leading instructors from participating domestic Chinese Language Flagship Programs. Students will engage in experiential learning and complete a project-based language learning (PBLL) project investigating Taiwan’s history, culture, politics, and technology development.
