Applications for the Alice and JP Wang Foundation Scholarship are now open and accepting applicants until the deadline of Friday, March 15, 2024.

At the heart of the UH Manoa Chinese Language Flagship Program’s commitment is the belief that education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints. This scholarship initiative serves as a testament to our dedication to empowering students and facilitating their educational journey. Recognizing the transformative power of education, we aim to alleviate the financial burdens associated with pursuing higher learning, enabling students to focus on their studies and personal growth without undue stress. By investing in the UH Manoa Chinese Language Flagship Program through these scholarships, we seek to create a thriving academic environment that nurtures linguistic proficiency, cultural understanding, and global competence.

As such, we are pleased to announce that applications for the Alice and JP Wang Foundation Scholarship are now open. The funds from this scholarship may be used for students attending UHM in Taiwan and/or the Capstone Year in Taiwan. The funds will be disbursed to four individuals for an amount up to $10,500 per person per grant cycle. However, it is possible, based on needs, for the number of awardees to increase and for the amount of funding to be adjusted.

Please fill out the form below by Friday, March 15, 2024. You will be notified of the result by April 15, 2024.

Please direct any inquiries to our email at chnflag@hawaii.edu.

In October of this year, the Chinese Flagship program received a substantial donation from the Alice and JP Wang Foundation. The donation will be divided into three annual installments and will be used to provide scholarships for Chinese Flagship students entering their Capstone Year as well as for Chinese Flagship students wishing to enroll in the UHM in Taiwan summer program.

The donation would likely not have been possible were it not for the efforts of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Honolulu, which sponsors the Center for Chinese Language Education (CCLE) and which introduced the Chinese Flagship program to the Alice and JP Wang Foundation. For their efforts, the Flagship Program and CCLE express their utmost gratitude.
