Event Details

December 15, 2024 – January 31, 2025

DOSIs will work in our HQS office in the Washington DC area over the course of two 90-day internships during the summers of 2026 and 2027 focused on developing an understanding of operational guidance and oversight policies, collection management principles, and intelligence targeting skills, while working interims as a SOO, CMO, or TO. Both internships in this program are designed to give students a look at how operations are conceived, managed, and driven as well as direct insight into the specific contributions of SOOs, TOs and CMOs. DOSIs will be at the heart of supporting active operational cases, disseminating intelligence and generating leads for future operations. After successful completion of the program and depending on hiring needs of the mission at that time, DOSIs may be offered the opportunity to convert into the Professional Trainee (PT) program.

Interested candidates can express interest in the DOSI program starting December 15, 2024 through January 31, 2025.  Given the unique and small scale of this internship program, interested candidates should carefully and thoroughly read the job advertisement to ensure that they will meet the minimum qualifications.  Candidates must:

  • Be a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution with at least one semester/quarter completed at the time of expressing interest. Competitive candidates enrolled in a 2-year degree program that feeds into an accredited 4-year program will also be considered;
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale after having completed their first semester or quarter or college, and maintain this GPA standard throughout their undergraduate college experience;
  • Be available for in person interviews for this program during the summer of 2025; and
  • Be available to return to their college to complete at least one final semester or quarter to earn their undergraduate degree after the completion of their summer 2027 internship.

Students interested in the DOSI program will need to act quickly to take advantage of this opportunity.  They will need to show their interest in international issues, their ability to work collaboratively with high integrity and their willingness to learn about the DO’s operational mission and culture.  When expressing interest in the DOSI program, students will be asked for their resume and transcript, as well as to complete additional supplemental questions and forms where they can detail their knowledge, skills, and abilities for this program.

The DOSI advertisement can be found by going to cia.gov/careers and searching for the DO Student Internship program under the “Student Programs” tab or at the following: Undergraduate Internship Program – Directorate of Operations – CIAStudents should use Event Code 21335 when submitting interest.
