About UH Manoa Access Control

The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) is committed to maintaining the physical security of university spaces by implementing effective access control measures that safeguard assets, protect individuals, and ensure the integrity of institutional operations.

Access is controlled by electronic card or physical key. The contents of this website is intended to assist you with information regarding the policy governing access control and information regarding the submission of access related requests. The contents of this website is intended to provide information for requesting access, reporting lost/stolen access key/card, and reporting hardware issues.

Submitting a request

Electronic Card Reader Access

Access to electronic card readers is a 2-part process. Access must be requested and provisioned in the access control system and the users card must be encoded.

Electronic Card Reader Access

  1. Cardholder access requests are submitted by the departments designated access control coordinator via Kuali Build: UHM Electronic Card Reader Access.
  2. Card encoding requests are scheduled via Google Calendar and can be submitted by either the access control coordinator or the cardholder: Schedule Electronic Access Card Encoding.

Encoding Details

Encoding schedule is subject to change. Refer to the booking page for the most up to date availability.

  • 9am – 10am appointments – Bachman Hall Lobby
    • Card encoding will be available by appointment
  • 2pm – 3pm appointments – Mobile card encoding 
    • Building/Room must be notated with in the booking form.
    • Actual time of the encoding (between 2pm – 3pm) will be determined with consideration of all appointments scheduled for that day.

Physical Key Access

Access to spaces controlled by physical key must be requested through the buildings designated access control coordinator, or requestors supervisor.

Physical key requests are submitted via AiM

AiM requests shall detail the information below:

  • Building
  • Room number
  • Request details
  • Key information (if known)
    • ASSA or Sargent
    • Key Number
    • Sequence Number
    • Quantity if requesting copies
  • Hardware pictures
  • Floor plans

Reporting access Lost or Stolen

Unaccounted for physical keys or ID cards encoded with access to UHM card readers must be reported to BOTH Department of Public Safety AND UHM Access Control immediately.

Reporting lock or card reader issues

Notify UHM Access Control when there are issues with card readers or physical locks.
