ABOUT ARC
The Academic Resource Center (ARC) serves students with a holistic lens that focuses on individual differences to generate growth and forward movement with clarity of purpose, values, and goals to create a foundation for successfully crossing the multiple bridges on the academic journey.
Tutoring
ARC offers 1 on 1 tutoring by appointment (in-person and online) as well as nightly walk-in tutoring services Sunday-Thursday 6-9pm at the Housing Success Center (HSC).
Academic Coaching
Individualized sessions to help students clarify and implement next steps in challenging situations that may occur on their academic journey.
Supplemental Instruction
A weekly study group facilitated by a student SI Leader who has previously excelled in the course and attends class sessions throughout the semester.
Wellness Program
The Wellness Program has two prongs; activities provided by ARC staff and activities planned and sponsored by the Peer Mentor Ohaha (PMO), RIO Affiliated with ARC.
Mission Statement
ARC services nurture holistic student growth toward self-actualization and enhance the student experience in supporting the development of independent, effective learners equipped with success-oriented strategies to achieve academic goals.
Program Overview
The overall purpose of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is to help students grow, develop, and flourish in discovering their potential. More specifically, with a sensitivity to individual differences and utilizing a holistic approach, ARC facilitates student learning in order to ensure student success so as to provide a strong foundation to succeed in their chosen profession, thereby, generating a future path for them to contribute to the broader community, both locally and globally.
Learning Objetives
As a result of utilizing ARC services, students will:
1. Use appropriate study skills to achieve academic goals.
2. Learn how to adjust learning approaches to fit their individual learning needs.
3. Learn how to study effectively with others.
4. Use effective learning practices.
5. Use self-reliant learning behaviors.
6. Have a functional understanding of course content.
