SUMMARY – A brief overview of the Air Force Research Laboratory, mission/vision, research directions, technology directorates (organization), and how to engage. Followed by a basic overview of hypersonic aero-thermo-dynamics (modeling of forces, moments, and heating at high speeds, exceeding Mach 4). Concluding with comments (author’s opinions) on how to approach conceptual analysis & design of high-speed vehicles. can address.

About the Speaker – Dr. José Camberos, an AIAA Associate Fellow, is recognized for exceptional and sustained contributions to multidisciplinary method for aerospace vehicle systems integration, analysis, and design. José has served as a thesis advisor and mentor for grad students at UD, AFIT, and WSU where he is also an adjunct faculty. Recently, José served as AFRL’s University Relations Manager and currently leads a team of engineers in developing multidisciplinary analysis & design capability for high-speed systems.
