Registered Independent Organizations

Registered Independent Organizations (RIOs) are one of the two types of student organizations that the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents recognizes. RIOs are student organizations, associations, or clubs that are formed to meet special interests of certain groups of students on campus (RP 7.203).

More than 150 Registered Independent Organizations (RIOs) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa serve the campus and greater community by creating student life for their fellow students. RIOs provide leadership development by promoting community spirit, activism, public service, and social, recreational, and cultural interaction among UHM students, faculty, and staff.
