Thomas Professor of Government and Sociology at Harvard University. Skocpol earned her Ph.D. from Harvard in 1975 and served as Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (2005-2007) and Director of the Center for American Political Studies (2000-2006). She has served as Professor of Sociology (1986-1994), Professor of Government and Sociology (1995-1997), and Victor S. Thomas Professor of Government and Sociology (1998-present). In 2007, Skocpol was awarded the Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science.
