Writer and historian Rebecca Solnit has written more than 25 books on walking, history, catastrophe, feminism, and hope. A Guggenheim fellow and winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, Solnit is the author of Men Explain Things to Me and A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities that Arise in Disaster. She writes regularly for Harper’s and The Guardian. Solnit is the Fall 2025 Dai Ho Chun Chair in the College of Arts, Languages & Letters.
