Dr. Mugiishi has also practiced and taught surgery in private practice and in association with the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine. Mugiishi was a general surgeon in the state for nearly 30 years and was associate chair of the department of surgery and director of surgical education at Burns.
