Marcus Eriksen

Scientist, sailor, veteran and environmentalist, Marcus Eriksen is research director of the 5 Gyres Institute and is one of the nation’s leading critics of ocean plastics pollution. The author of two books, My River Home (2007) and Junk Raft (2017), Eriksen is most famous for constructing a boat entirely out of single-use plastic bottles and sailing it 2,600 miles across the Pacific. His adventures and activism are the subject of a feature documentary to be released in the summer of 2018.
