A specialist in innovation, infrastructure, and design analysis, Petroski is the author of 75 refereed articles and 19 books, including To Engineer Is Human and The Evolution of Useful Things. His most recent book, The Road Taken, is a history (and future) of American infrastructure (Bloomsbury, 2016).
