Eric Shinseki

Eric Shinseki, born on Kauai, is a decorated war veteran who became the first Asian-American four-star general in the United States. He served as Army Chief of Staff from 1999-2003 and Secretary for Veteran’s Affairs from 2009-2014.

General Shinseki served as the spring 2018 UH Mānoa commencement speaker.
