He is Chairperson of the Honolulu Climate Change Commission, a prominent public speaker, and a contributor to local and national media. Fletcher received his PhD in Marine Geology from the University of Delaware. His research focuses on Pacific paleo-sea level history, beach processes, and modeling the impacts of past, present, and future sea level rise on island environments and communities.
