Mamoru Akamine, a history professor at the University of the Ryukyus, will speak about his Okinawan studies database project and about what he has observed about Okinawan studies in Hawai‘i during his year’s stay. He will talk about some of the unique resources he has found here, what the future holds for Okinawan studies and what needs to be done to ensure the success of Okinawan studies.
