This is a very special performance commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Nomura Ryu Ongaku Kyo Kai Hawaii Shibu which brought together masters such as Siko Ikehara, Kanyei Izumigawa, Kosuke Nakaganeku, Harry Seisho Nakasone, Katsumi Shinsato, and many others who continued the Nomura style of classical Okinawan music in Hawaii.
The Center for Okinawan Studies at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa is privileged to have Norman Kaneshiro-sensei teaching the MUS 311 class each semester at UHM, continuing this legacy.
