Abstract
Sun-Il Lee (1894-1928) arrived on May 8, 1905 with his wife and three sons. Seung-Mu Lee, the eldest son, was 19 years old at arrival and got married in 1913. He had one daughter and one son, Annie Soon and Richard Ha Young. In November 1998, Mrs. Annie Soon Lee Tom and Mr./Mrs. Richard Lee gave the family collection kept by their youngest uncle, Seung-Shin Lee to Duk Hee Lee Murabayashi. Mrs. Murabayashi in turn donated the collection to the Center for Korean Studies at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.
Sun-Il Lee Collection contains Sun-Il Lee’s documents and relics, maps, and many books, including novels in Korean. Books, from the early 1900s. However, bibles and biblical references were appeared to be collected by Seung-Mu Lee. The Collection also includes many school materials/ documents, and photos of his family and early Korean immigrants.
