Hi Vicki. I can't seem to open your "odt" file. Can you give me a brief explanation/description of what this lesson is about? The title sounds intriguing. Thanks! =)

Hi!
Basically kids pick a tray with a multicolored cloth (with one predominate color) and they get 25 pony beads in 4 different colors (I use black, green, yellow and orange). They use different "beaks" (tweezers, binder clips or fingers) to pick up the beads once they scatter them on the tray until 75 are eaten. They are supposed to look away or close their eyes and pick the "bug" that catches their eye first. Then, at the end of a generation, each bug makes 3 babies (to get to a population of 100 again) and they do it for 3 generaations. At the end they conclude that camoflage is an adaptation that is dependant on the environment, that no bug can "evolve" -but the population does, and what beaks are most suited to a feeding source. Let me know if you want ot see a better write up of it!!! Hope this helps!
