Aloha Karyn,

I am going to try this with my 5th grade class tomorrow (Kanuikapono Learning Center PCS in Anahola, Kauai). I only plan to cover salinity at first and appreciated looking at your PPT and suggestions in preparation for my class. Mahalo, Kathryn

Oh Kauai, lucky you! Please let me know how it goes? I had to make some modifications for 5th grade too. But, I was able to do this with all levels of elementary school science. It was fun and they all figured it out. I think doing it in steps works better. Fresh & salt bags first, then hot fresh bags and cold salt bags, then cold fresh bags and hot salt bags. With each set of lab partners (2) only doing one lab at a time and then sharing their data with the rest of class one at a time. That's what worked for me. I taught it for six different classes, but I got better at it each time! I wish I had taken a photo of their data charts...
