We are also thrilled to announce that the University of Hawai’i Uehiro Academy for Philosophy and Ethics in Education has offered to give two tour sessions at Hanahau’oli School on Friday, May 24th.

“Tour Hanahau’oli School: Progressive Philosophy and Pedagogy, Then and Now,” organized by members of the University of Hawai‘i Uehiro Academy for Philosophy & Ethics in Education

On this “learning trip” you will have the opportunity to visit Hanahau’oli School. Firmly grounded in Hawai‘i’s unique sense of place, this over one hundred-year-old “progressive” school was founded in collaboration with George Herbert Mead, John Dewey, and other American pragmatist philosophers. Today, it partners with the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa to create a “living laboratory” where children and adults learn side-by-side. Come and learn more about the history of Hanahau’oli School founding, and see firsthand how the school continues to carry out a progressive philosophy and pedagogy in the 21st Century.

*Please Note: The Uehiro Academy is offering two visits with a maximum of 15 people per visit. Registration through this form will be recorded on a first-come, first-served basis.
