As your student begins their journey at UH Mānoa, we want to help you stay informed and connected along the way. Our Fall 2026 ʻOhana Newsletter, released biweekly from August through December, will share information about campus resources, important dates and deadlines, university updates, and practical tips to help you support your student’s transition and success.

Understanding FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of your student’s education records. Once your student enrolls at UH Mānoa, FERPA rights belong to them. This means the University may be limited in what information it can share with parents, family members, or others without the student’s consent.
We encourage ʻohana to become familiar with FERPA and understand how it may affect your access to information about your student’s education records.
Campus Resources for ʻOhana
Supporting your student also means knowing where they can turn when they need help. Below are some key resources that ʻohana should be familiar with as your student transitions to UH Mānoa:
- Campus Safety — Learn about campus safety services, emergency resources, and the UH Mānoa Department of Public Safety.
- Counseling & Student Development Center — Learn about counseling, mental health, and wellness support available to your student.
- Financial Aid Services — Find information about financial aid, scholarships, costs, and important financial aid requirements.
- KOKUA Program (Office for Students w/ Disabilities) — Learn about disability access services and how students can request accommodations.
- Office of Title IX — Learn about support, resources, and reporting options for sex-based discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence.
- Student Basic Needs — Explore resources available to students experiencing challenges with food, housing, finances, transportation, and other essential needs.
- Student Housing Services — Find information about on-campus housing, residential life, policies, move-in, and other housing-related topics.
- University Health Services Mānoa — Learn about medical care, health services, immunization requirements, and other health resources available to students.
