About Wāʻihi Nui Falls
The two known waterfalls in Mānoa–Mānoa and Kahuwaiʻiki–are fed by Wāʻihi Stream.
In Mānoa Valley, these streams are fed by the many rains of Mānoa. One of the most famous moʻolelo about these rains tells of Ua Kuahine and her kāne Kahaukani.
Ua Kuahine is particularly well-known as the mother of Kahalaopuna, a beautiful girl who faced tragedy and hardship. Kahalaopuna, a freshwater spring, was born out of the love between her mother, the rain Kuahine, and her father, the wind Kahaukani. They would meet nearly everyday, feeding the soils and underground aquifers.
