About Pūkele
Pūkele translates to “muddy.”
This name could be in reference to landslides that often happen in this area. Puʻu Pūkele is found on the ridge between Mānoa and Pālolo valleys, but Pūkele is also the name of a stream in Pālolo Valley and a nearby ʻili.
