In undergraduate research and creative work, mentors are indispensable as subject matter experts to guide and cultivate undergraduate students. While there is no single set of rules or a checklist to help mentors in this critical role, UROP has compiled various resources (e.g. mentor expectations, best practices, feedback from past UROP mentors, and published articles on mentoring undergraduate research and creative work) for UROP mentors to help outline what mentoring a UROP student entails, and how to promote a positive and fulfilling experience for both mentors and students. We hope that mentors find these resources helpful, and ask that you share any resources that you have with us so that we can make them available to the larger campus community. UROP sincerely appreciates and values the time and dedication of all faculty mentors at UHM.
