The HIMB MakerLab is designed to give undergraduate students an opportunity to design a scientific study of their own choosing under the mentorship of a scientific researcher and educator. The project is different than a traditional research internship in which a student would work on an existing defined project under the direction of a lead researcher. In HIMB MakerLab, the student becomes the creator and leader of their own research project, with guidance from a mentor. The limitations of the research will be defined by the student’s ability, MakerLab resources, logistics, and timeline. Feasible study topics will be discussed during the interview process.
